Unhandled Error after entering serial number Follow

Question:

After installing Sales & Marketing Pro or Marketing Plan Pro 11 I double clicked the icon to launch the program. I was then prompted for the serial number for the software and after entering it I got an error message.

Problem:

The error message that you're encountering could either be an "Unhanded Error" or it could say that you don't have permissions to modify the registry. The technical issue is that the serial number needs to be written to the Windows Registry and Windows is not allowing the software to do this properly due to administrative rights issues.

Solution:

To solve the problem you will need to launch the software with elevated administrative privileges the first time. After that, you should be able to start the software normally by double-clicking on the desktop launcher shortcut, or on a marketing plan file.

Take the following steps to run the software as the local administrator account:

  • Verify that the "Hide File Extensions" feature of Windows is turned off:
    1. This allows you to see the 3-letter filename extensions after the period at the end of each filename.
    2. Open up "Computer" (in Windows Vista or Windows 7) or "My Computer" (in Windows XP).
    3. If you have Windows Vista or Windows 7, press and release the Alt key on the keyboard once (to make the "File, Edit, View, Tools, Help" menu choices appear).
    4. Click "Tools-->Folder Options".
    5. Click the "View" tab.
    6. Make sure there is no check mark in "Hide filename extensions for known file types".
    7. Click "OK".
  • Run the Program Launcher file as Administrator. Click the link for your software below:
    • Sales and Marketing Pro
    • Marketing Plan Pro 11

The steps above will launch the software as the default, or "local Administrator", user of the computer. This should help you to determine if the problem is specific to your particular user account in Windows or not.
