The message "You do not have sufficient permissions to modify the Serial Number" indicates the need to launch the software with elevated administrative privileges the first time. After that, you should be able to start the software normally by double-clicking on the desktop launcher shortcut, or on a business plan file.
Take the following steps to run the software as the local administrator account:
Verify that "Hide File Extensions" is turned off in Windows. This allows you to see the 3-letter filename extensions after the period at the end of each filename:

- When prompted, enter the serial number and the software will accept it.
The steps above will launch the software as the default, or "local Administrator", user of the computer. This should help you to determine if the problem is specific to your particular user account in Windows or not.
Why is this happening?
When you launch our software, the program checks for the serial number in the Windows Registry and two things can happen:
If the serial number is present, the software will open normally.
If the serial number is missing, the program will prompt you to re-enter your serial number. Once you enter it, the software will write the serial number back into the Windows Registry file and launch normally there after.
This specific error message can only happen if the serial number is missing from the Windows Registry and something prevents the program from writing the serial number into the Windows Registry properly.
The most common cause of not being able to write the serial number to the registry is user permissions due to the UAC (user account controls) built into all versions of Windows since Windows Vista. Running the program as the local administrator elevates the permissions so that the program can write the information to the Windows Registry properly.
